From Bellevue School District

Dear Bellevue Learning Community,

As we begin our six-week school closure, we are excited to share the following learning resources for families and students to use during the closure.

For Families with Elementary-Level Students:

For the week of March 16, students can work on “just right” texts, daily writing, mathematics practice, and other content area learning. You can find these materials in the notebooks for each grade level using these links:

Kindergarten

1st Grade

2nd Grade

3rd Grade

4th Grade

5th Grade

Once in the notebook, select from the different subject areas on the left to find resources for your students to use. Students are encouraged to use at least one of the resources in each subject area this week. Additional materials can also be found on the BSD Student Portal.

Students should also have received materials from their classroom teachers on Thursday, March 12. If your child was not at school on Thursday, your school will send information to you about times to pick up the materials; if you don’t hear from them, please call your school. Also, if your family does not have access to a computer or tablet device, or if you do not have a connection to the internet, please compete this survey (English/Spanish). If you previously completed the survey, our technology staff will be in contact with you to arrange for pick-up or delivery. For additional technology help, please email studenthelp@bsd405.org.

Beginning on March 23, students will have daily learning experiences. We will share more information on those daily learning experiences later in the week.

For Families with Students in Middle and High School:

During the week of March 16, middle and high school students should focus on completing current assignments and reviewing material in preparation for the daily learning experiences that will begin on March 23. Teachers will be reaching out to students to provide information on specific assignments and material that they should focus on this week.

We are fortunate that all middle and high school students in our District have electronic devices to support access and learning outside of the school building. All students have access to our Student How-To Guides. For additional technology help, please email studenthelp@bsd405.org. Most teachers have implemented OneNote as a tool to provide curriculum resources and information directly to students. Families can access additional materials to support their students via the BSD Student Portal.

Beginning on March 23, students will have daily learning experiences that include communications with teachers and assignments and resources in their current courses.

Additional Resources for Families:

If your family is in need of food during this time, you can pick up grab-and-go meals from Lake Hills Elementary School and Sammamish High School this week from 11am to 12pm daily; meal times may change next week. Meals are available to any child 18 or younger and include lunch and a breakfast for the following morning. We are looking into other opportunities to provide food to our families, including possible meal delivery.

We know that many of our families also need support with childcare at this time. For childcare needs, please visit the Bellevue Boys & Girls Club website. During this closure, the Boys and Girls Club is offering extended programming for families in our community.
