Our school is known for its diversity: 38% of Somerset students speak a language other than English, with 18 languages represented in our school. To present and observe our diversity, our Annual Multi- Culture Week will be celebrated in the week of March 20 th to March 23 rd . This year’s theme is Food Around the World ! We are currently short of staff in our school and need one afternoon safety volunteer per day from 3:30pm to 4pm right away who will monitor traffic, help pedestrians crossing street and lead students back to the front office after 4 pm mostly in the school entrance area.   As you know, Somerset PTSA could not operate without donations from students’ families and community supporters. What you may or may not know, is that many of you work for companies that provide matching funds for every hour you volunteer at a non profit organization such as Somerset PTSA.   For instance, if you are a PTSA volunteer and work for Microsoft, you can submit all your volunteer hours to Microsoft, and they will pay us all your volunteer time at a hourly rate. Reflections Somerset PTSA is proud to sponsor the Reflections Program, a National PTA and Washington State PTA cultural arts competition again this year. The purpose of this program is to provide an opportunity for students to use their creative talents by expressing themselves through their own original works. A student may submit entry/entries in six art areas. Only original works of art are accepted.
