It's time to restock your bookshelves for summer reading! Come one, come all - bring the books you want to trade to the multi-purpose room; the more you bring, the more you get to take home! Picture books, young readers, chapter books, novels and adult reading, workbooks, how-to and cook books -- all are welcome and that means you! We look forward to seeing you soon.

The 2013 Somerset PTSA Survey is now out, and you can help your child's class win a class pizza party! The class with the highest percentage of respondents will win the pizza party. The survey will remain open until the end of April, but if you complete the survey before April 21, you can enter your child's teacher's name at the end of the survey for a chance to win the class pizza party. Because the PTSA survey is used to plan events and activities for next year, we need your input.

We still have a few tickets left! Join us for a Starry Night, featuring dinner, spirits, and live and silent auctions to help support all of our children's education. The majority of our Somerset PTSA funds comes from this biennial auction, and our goal is to raise enough money to cover two full school years worth of PTSA-sponsored program and activities. The Starry Night auction will be an evening for adults to gather in a fun, festive atmosphere over dinner and drinks with old and new friends ... and help ensure that Somerset continues to be a shining star for our students and our community. Exquisite classroom art projects, teachers/staff events and outings, cultural dinners/experiences, and merchandise/gift certificates generously donated by individuals and businesses will be available for your bidding.

Young Scientist Week is back! We are starting off the week with our annual visit from the great people at the Pacific Science Center! This year they will be bringing us the Super Cool Science Show! The three states of matter…do they matter?? Dive into the weird world of the SUPER COOL where gases become liquids and liquids become solids. In this fast-paced show, liquid nitrogen takes center stage in a variety of experiments with surprising results. Check out the Inter-Planetary Olympics – what is it like to bounce a racquetball or munch a graham cracker in the sub-zero temperatures of Pluto? Find out what causes matter to fizz, freeze, foam, and fly in the frigid zones of minus degrees!
Also, join us for the Science Carnival, Friday the 22nd of March from 530-730PM in the Somerset Gym. Come on down with the whole family to check out the science projects as well as some hands-on Science fun with a Dry Ice, Fantastic Forces, Under Pressure, Electricity, and Marvelous Magnets booths! And of course, there will be cotton candy! Don't miss it! If you have any questions, contact Michael Ketchum @ ketch18@gmail.com.
