Somerset’s Scholastic Book Fair
Somerset’s Scholastic Book Fair is going online! November 30 – December 13 In a year of so many  *not*  normal things, our book fair will also be different this year. Somerset is partnering with Scholastic to host an ONLINE ONLY book fair for families this fall. Mrs. Bravenec realizes that for some families, the ability to buy books for your children may not be possible this year. Family Math Night Materials Pick-up
Special night for kids and adults to learn and play fun math games! Jane and John Felling from Box Cars and One-Eyed Jacks will lead a variety of games that will build on each grade level’s priority standards. The games are designed to develop mathematical fluency and build problem solving strategies. Games will require use of regular and really cool multi-sided dice, deck of cards and counters. All materials have been purchased in partnership with Somerset PTSA for EACH and EVERY Somerset student so all you have to do is swing thru the drive-thru pick up line. Math Kangaroo 2021 Registration Invitation
This year Math Kangaroo offer virtual participation for all students who cannot find space in the in-person centers. All virtual Math Kangaroo participants will receive a T-shirt and a gift straight to their home addresses and can take the test at home. The regular participation is still offered but on a much smaller scale due to social distancing regulations. All in-person centers will look like the years before where students come for the exam and receive all Math Kangaroo material on the test day from their center manager. Math is Cool will be offering online math contests for students this year, including a Master's contest for grade 4th and 5th in the coming Spring. Students need to form a group of four in order to compete. We will send more information for selecting 8 teams per grade level. Chinese classical dance schools can be roughly divided into three schools: the traditional opera body rhyme school, the Han-Tang dance school, and the Dunhuang dance school. We are honored to invite Chinese classical dancer Ju, Hao to give us a seminar introducing and performing “Thirty-six poses of the Dunhuang dance”. “Dunhuang Dance” was derived from the Dunhuang murals.
