Fall 2024 Information

Somerset PTSA Chinese Traditional Music - Hulusi

After-School Program 2024-2025 Fall Session

The Hulusi is a traditional Chinese wind instrument with a rich cultural heritage, originating from the Dai and other ethnic groups in Yunnan Province. It is made from bamboo and features a gourd-shaped wind chamber, producing a soft, soothing sound that resembles a flowing river or gentle breeze. Often used in both folk music and contemporary performances, the Hulusi is appreciated for its unique tone and simplicity of play, making it accessible to both beginners and experienced musicians alike.

Incorporating a Hulusi class into our program offers students the opportunity to explore a new cultural experience, develop musical skills, and gain a deeper understanding of world music traditions. By learning this instrument, students can enhance their creativity, focus, and appreciation for diverse art forms, aligning with our mission to provide enriching, well-rounded educational experiences.

All students are eligible to participate in the social video-based evaluation exams of the China Conservatory of Music. They will receive a certificate with a QR code and the signature of the president of the China Conservatory of Music. Ms. Wei will lead the students to perform in Somerset ES events.

We believe in providing exceptional educational opportunities that empower our students. We proudly recommends our outstanding Chinese Hulusi class as the ideal choice for our child's music education journey.

Enroll your child now and watch them embark on a transformative journey filled with language proficiency, cultural understanding, and personal growth. PTSA is dedicated to supporting your child's educational endeavors. Together, let's inspire a lifelong love for learning and equip our children with the skills they need to thrive in an interconnected world.
