At the Somerset PTSA STEM Club Robotics Program, students will learn how to code by using EV3 Robotics Kit curriculum, taught by Somerset elementary teachers and guided by mentors from Newport Robotics Group(NRG) who have experience in FIRST® LEGO® League(FLL). Students will dive into the fundamentals of robotics. Embrace the core values of the Robotics League as you investigate real-world problems and engineer creative solutions. Please note, this club mainly lays the foundation for robotics and doesn't participate in any tournaments.
NRG will hold online parent information meeting on February 12, 2025 at 7 p.m., online to introduce the class and address any questions. Here is the recorded session

Session 2 Proposed dates: 2/26, 3/5, 3/12, 3/19, 3/26, 4/2, 4/16, 4/23, 4/30, 5/21, 5/28, 6/4, 6/11 (11-13 classes, no classes on 4/9, 5/7, 5/14) (Potentially no class 4/2 and 4/16, if NRG qualifies for championships. We will update you mid-late March if the class or classes will be cancelled, we figured this into the tuition for the class.)

Registration opens on February 13th at 10 a.m. General registration will open on February 15th at 10:00 a.m. if the class has not sold out. Registration will close the earlier on reaching the max capacity of the class or February 23rd at 11:59 p.m.
Please check and update your child's grade and teacher's name prior to registration through My Account.
Please purchase a membership prior to starting the registration process. Create/Renew PTSA Membership. (Please note that new memberships may take up to 24 hours to be reflected on the website. )
Tuition fee is $300 (with an additional 3% transaction fee that will be added during the checkout) will be collected during registration. You will be redirected to PayPal at the end to submit payment information.
There is a small chance that this needs to be adjusted if the enrollment number is lower than expected.
No refunds after registration.
Tuition does not include tournament fees.
All tuition received will be allocated to pay administrative processing fees, costs and fees, fees and costs passed on by Bellevue School District, scholarships, any other expenses or costs related to after school programs, support/donation to partner club, material, and equipement. Any tuition that was not used by the end of the program will be accounted for as a donation under the Somerset PTSA general fundraiser.

Parents must be PTSA members and available to attend at least one to two sessions during the year for each enrolled student to assist the class. This participation is required. Parents will help monitor students, help to run the club, help with check-in and checkout, and make sure rooms are clean at the end of class.

The SignUp Genius is set up with all the class sessions. It is a first-come, first-serve basis so please sign up for the dates that work best for your schedule. After the first week of class, in order for us to have at least one volunteer per session, we will assign dates to parents who have not signed up. If you have any questions, please reach out to the program chairs Jolene and Jerron Marshall.
Parents must complete the Bellevue School District Volunteer background check and check-in at the Somerset Office on their volunteer day.
